The spring system is able to absorb the impact linearly, bringing the vehicle to the ground not by impact but by gradually unloading the weight. Each spring can absorb 120kg in maximum compression, thus ensuring the entire weight range necessary to absorb the impact.
To give a very simple example, it is as if the Vespa, instead of falling suddenly, was accompanied to the ground by the springs, loading all the weight onto them.
No less important is the function of the tempone head: in fact, this is obtained from a solid in a particular material, with a low friction coefficient and high resistance to allow the Vespa to slide and therefore not to twist the frame during the fall.
